Friday Inspiration

{A cemetery decorated with flags}

I hope everyone enjoyed an extra day off last weekend (and a short work week). I spent last weekend getting my house in order spring cleaning and organizing. This weekend I think I will relax and enjoy my handiwork.

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."

Happy Memorial Day Weekend

After this long and terribly cold winter we've had it seems like warmer weather would never come. I hope you get to enjoy nice weather, a long weekend, and time spent with friends and family.

Don't forget to take a moment to remember how truly blessed we all are to enjoy the freedom so many gave their lives for. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Friday Inspiration: Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Since Mother's Day is just around the corner (May 11th) I thought I would share some gift ideas that I as a mother would love to receive. Personally my two most favorite spaces (and places I spend the most time in) are my office and kitchen. Here are a few items I would love to add to either of those spaces. Hopefully this will help get you brainstorming towards the perfect gift for your mother.

1. Hand made card from Etsy ($4.50)

2. Floral paper straws perfect for spring ($6)

3. Pink peonies in a cement vase.
- Idea for a DIY vase here, and how to make grocery store flowers look expensive here.

-Filled with washi tape

6. Bright tray from Target ($19.99)

7. Ceramic farmers market baskets from Anthropologie ($20)
-Anthropology is one of my favorite places to find unique and beautiful items for the kitchen

Friday Inspiration: Spring/Easter Tablescape

Flowers are always a great way to add some life and beauty to a home. Now that spring is here I feel the need to fill my home with them. This past week I went to my local florist and picked up tulips, hyacinths, roses, and daisies to name a few. I decided to place my double tulips down my table and I added some plastic easter eggs and parceling egg holders down the table for an Easter themed tablescape.

Mothers Day Gift Guide

Peach Satin Hands® Pampering SetBeauty Gift Ideas: Stress Management Kit
Fruit Infusion Pitcher
Image 1 of ASOS Premium Jewelled Bib NecklaceMother's Day is just around the corner (May 12th) and it's time to start thinking about what to get her. Here are a few gift ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

1. ASOS Premium Jeweled Bib Necklace $66.50
Statement necklaces are everywhere right now. I like them because they can easily elevate the simplest of outfits. A beautiful statement necklace would be a great gift for any mother but especially the jewelry lover.

2. Earth Therapeutics Holistic Stress Management Kit $25

Everything your mother needs to relieve stress and unwind at the end of the day.

One of my favorite pampering hands set in a subtle peach scent. If you're interested in making a similar hand scrub yourself you can follow this link.

4. Fruit Infusion Pitcher $20

For the mother who likes to entertain this pitcher will be sure to please.

Perfume is a very personal gift but most people know their mothers well enough to know what her favorite scent is, or maybe have heard her mention a fragrance she would like to own. My mother has worn the very same perfume for as long as I can remember so it's always a welcomed gift. Vera Wang's new perfume was sent to me in an add and I can't get enough of the smell. It's for sure on my list of what I want for Mother's Day.

A Good Surprise

I found out the most pleasant of surprises yesterday. My best friend since childhood will be here this afternoon to stay for the long weekend. We haven't spent an Easter together since we were children and I'm so looking forward to seeing her any minute now. Thanks to my pre planning here, here, and here I have a lot of prep work already done so now I can relax and enjoy the time with my good friend. I hope you all have a wonderful Good Friday and Easter weekend.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

http://media-cache-ec1.pinterest.com/originals/f1/ef/f2/f1eff2c4fd76252e4b9770bdce1943cf.jpg

"St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time, a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summers magic."
-Adrienne Cook

It turns out after doing a little bit of research St. Patrick wasn't even Irish but rather British. His story (which you can read in full here) starts when he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and sent to tend sheep as a slave for seven years in Ireland. During this time he became a christian, and he eventually finds his way back home to his family aboard a pirate ship. Back home in Britain he becomes ordained as a priest and returning to Ireland making it his life mission to covert the Irish to Christianity. It would be centuries after his death (March 17, 461) that he would be honored as the patron saint of Ireland.

DIY Easter Cards

In continuing on for my quest to get ready for Easter I found this blog post on how to create these adorable Easter cards. With all the supplies needed already on hand it was a no brainer.

{You will need card stock, washi tape, scissors, templates, and wax paper}
{An envelope and card set I purchased years ago from Michael's came in handy for this project}
{Using the card stock I cut cards to fit inside the envelopes}

DIY Place Cards

Since Easter comes early this year (last day of March) and I usually host lunch/dinner at my house I decided to get a jump start on decorating by creating a simple craft each week. Today I made these adorable origami place cards that I found here. They are just perfect since they serve a double purpose as a place card and dessert holder. Now I just need to figure out what treat to stick inside.

{Scrap book paper, card stock, rotary cutter, bone folder, glitter, and glue pen}

I used a mixture of scrapbook paper and solid card stock to create my place cards. And to add a little something extra I got out my Martha Stewart glue pen and neon glitter to add a little punch to my pastel pallet.
