Friday Inspiration: Gather Some Fresh Peaches

It's peach season here in IL and we're overflowing with fresh peaches. Depending on where you live peaches can be in season anywhere between May and September. These peaches came from my father's tree and I have spent the last couple of weeks making lots of peach pies, eating peaches, and looking for more peach related recipes. I recently stumbled upon this peach sorbet recipe that I would like to try next. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

DIY: Coffee Bar

{Before}

Sorry I didn't snap this image before the wallpaper started coming down. I just grabbed a corner to see how easy it was to take down and it peeled right off. Like I said in my last kitchen post its been over 25 years since my last kitchen remodel.

As you can see I set up my own little make shift coffee bar after seeing so many inspirational images from Pinterest. With all the entertaining I do I decided that it would be a great idea to move my coffee maker from behind the counter to the seating area.

Friday Inspiration: Celebrate Accomplishments

"Don't fear failure. Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail."
-Bruce Lee

I just happened to look back at some of my older blog posts and realized August 13th 2012 was my start date. I may not have met every deadline by posting three times a week first thing in the morning, or even posted at all some days, but I'm still proud to say I've stuck with it and I have enjoyed the process.
This weekend I think I will take a little time to celebrate and dream up more ideas for the future.

Friday Inspiration: Be All There

This is the last weekend before school starts on Monday for a lot of the kids around here. Summer and life in general goes by far too quickly that we could all use a reminder to slow down and be all there.
Have a great weekend!

DIY Neon Door Mat Take Two

It's been almost a year since my last post on how to spray paint a rubber door mat. I originally purchased two mats and two neon spray paint colors. One mat for my front door and one for the garage on the way to the mud room. Since it was a simple and easy project I thought I would enlist the help of my granddaughter before she goes back to school next week.

 {She prefered the #503 pink filter dust mask but either mask would work}

Home Improvement: Popcorn Ceiling Removal

{The ceiling paint is Conco, a Menard's brand, flat antique white}

We last remodeled our kitchen over 25 years ago and it's definitely time for a change, and with my recent collection of kitchen images on Pinterest, I am ready for some remodeling projects.

All the ceilings in our home have the popcorn on them. It wasn't that big a deal for me to have them removed, but with the grime and dirt, plus the cobwebs that were stuck to them, we decided to just take it down. It seemed like an easier plan than to clean and repaint them. It actually came down fairly easily. We removed everything from the kitchen and laid down dropcloths to catch the debris. My husband took a medium drywall knife and scraped it off the ceiling.  It is a good way to get your walls washed down afterwards from all of the dust.

Friday Inspiration: Have An Ice Cream Social

{Banana split party at work}

Just because summer is winding down doesn't mean you should stop with the summer fun. We at Champaign Plastics recommend hosting an ice cream social with friends, family, or even co-workers. Our work ice cream party was a lot of fun, we kept ours simple but you could make yours as elaborate as you want.
